Have you ever wanted to learn how to sculpt the figure? Join me in my studio-atelier—the only of its kind in the state of Wisconsin—for a foundational course that will focus on the skills and techniques of figure sculpture. Using existing sculptures and casts, this class will concentrate on basic figure sculpture principles in order to develop good foundational skills and best practices in the round and in relief. By developing our form sense by sculpting features and parts of the body (mouth, eye, hand, etc.) we will learn how to confidently manage the materials and tools of sculpting in clay, read and translate form with a sculptor’s eye, and understand proportions, measurements, and scale.

This is a class both for beginners and for those with some experience in figure sculpture. If you’ve previously worked with ceramics, done some drawing or painting, or 3-D modeling—or if you just want to try something new—this class is for you.

A 25lb bag of clay and sculpture modeling tools for use in class will be provided.

We will meet at my studio-atelier in Emerson East. Spaces are limited so sign up soon!

Please note that class fees are non-refundable one week prior to the first class. A $20 non-refundable registration/re-stock fee will be charged for cancellations prior to this date.
